Default Free Hosts

I don't really have the money right now to buy a domain and I really want to get a domain but I need a free one. So I was wondering what you guys think is the best free Web Host. I'm okay if it is "www.(their site0.com/(my site) becuase I know a good place to get a free Top Level Domain.

dot.tk domains used to be good, until they added those damn gateways to the domains. Just check out my old domain, http://www.videogamerc.tk to see what I mean. It's a good thing I got a real domain when I did.

I've used quite a few free web hosts (for about 3 1/2 years, I've been jumping across different hosts) and I can safely say that 150m.com was the best. They only had one ad, and it was a banner ad across the top of the page that didn't really do anything to the layout; just pushed it down the page. Plus, if I can remember correctly, it was 100mb of space and 1.2gb of bandwidth. However, the site seems to be down.

Ah... didn't know they added that... that sucks... anyway. I'll try 150m.com but I was wondering if there is anything tht can replace .tk?

Dhost.org -- brilliant, and totally free.

OMG FREEWEBS.COM

Yea, like, never use them.

I use funpic.org, you get PHP, One MySQL database, and FTP.

http://www.web1000.com is good for starting out for the fact that they have no ads at all.

The only problem with a ot of those "no ads" free hosting is that they don't remain ad free for very long. A long time ago I used to use Host Ultra, and it was great at first because they didn't have any ads at all. But over time, the ads appeared, and after a while they got so bad I even had a couple of complaints from my visitors about them. Ever since switching to paid hosting, I've never looked back.

I agree that Dot TK is totally annoying with their gateway page. Is there an option to turn it off? They used to have a banner ad but you could turn that off if you wanted. I have my own .com but I still get a lot of visitors from my old .tk address. I recently set up a silly webpage using .vze.com (which is accessed through shorturl.com). They put a tiny little thing down the very bottom saying "Powered by Short URL .com".

I've noticed that too Lysia. I suppose it's mainly because there are so many people desperate for free hosts, that as soon as a good one comes up, everyone dives in for it.
